Uranium nitrate (uranyl nitrate)
in 1 remedy
A yellow uranium salt, traditionally used in homoeopathy for great thirst, copious urination, bloating and wasting weakness.
Uranium nitrate, also called uranyl nitrate, is a yellow crystalline salt of the metal uranium that dissolves readily in water and glows under ultraviolet light. In the nineteenth century it was used in an early photographic process. The raw salt is toxic, harming the kidneys and liver; homoeopathy uses it only in specially prepared form.
Its homoeopathic picture comes from its effects on the kidneys. Homoeopaths traditionally turn to it for excessive thirst, the passing of large amounts of urine, a bloated, windy stomach with a large appetite, and marked thinness and weakness.
