Spirit distilled from a tincture of acorn kernels
in 1 remedy
A spirit distilled from acorn kernels, traditionally used in homoeopathy for the craving for alcohol and its after-effects, and for spleen discomfort.
Quercus glandium spiritus is a spirit distilled from a tincture of the kernels of acorns, the nuts of the oak tree, Quercus robur. Oaks are long-lived trees of Europe, and their acorns were once roasted as a coffee substitute in hard times.
The German physician Rademacher first used it for long-standing complaints of the spleen. Homoeopaths traditionally associate it with the after-effects of alcohol and with lessening the craving for drink, and it appears in remedies for people cutting down. Its picture also includes giddiness with noises in the head, wind, and fullness of the spleen and liver region.
