The quince tree (Cydonia oblonga)
in 1 remedy
The golden quince, an old fruit of Persia and Kashmir, made in Indian homoeopathy into a tonic traditionally linked with low stamina and loose stools.
Cydonia vulgaris, now named Cydonia oblonga, is the quince, a small tree of the rose family from western Asia, related to the apple and pear. Its hard, fragrant golden fruit is too sour to eat raw and is cooked into jams and jellies. In India its seeds, known as bihidana, are a familiar ingredient of Unani medicine.
The quince is not among the remedies of the classic materia medica, and its homoeopathic use comes mainly from Indian practice, where it is made into a mother tincture. Homoeopaths there associate it with low stamina and vitality, especially in men, and with weak digestion and loose stools.
